  2. For the fourth time there was a combined FDIME/EFIM patient session on Friday March 6, mainly organized by members of the FDIME Management Team and chaired by Daniel Sereni and Ricardo Gomez Huelgas. After a short introduction about the recent activities of FDIME entitled “Internists, health communications, AI and FDIME” presented by Jan Willem Elte, one patient from Florence gave his view on diabetes after being introduced by Filippo Pieralli, his internist and a long-term friend.
The patient Mr Mario Carniani was a very lively and young looking past Professor of art and city guide, 86 years of age and capable of keeping the attention of the audience during most time of the session telling stories about his disease and also about his life. After and during his presentation a discussion took place with the patient and his internist (Filippo Pieralli), Ramon Pujol (chair, through Zoom), Daniel Sereni, Ricardo Gomez Huelgas, Jan Willem Elte. Also the audience participated in a vivid discussion.
