FDIME activities during ECIM 2025, March 5 – 8 in Florence
- March 21, 2025
The European Congress of Internal Medicine (ECIM) 2026 was held in Vienna, March 25-28.
The venue was the magnificent Hofburg, a monumental building in the centre of the city. It was attended by more than 2500 delegates from all over Europe and beyond. Because of the trouble in the Middle East some of the presentations had to be through a video recording.
Because it was the 30th anniversary of EFIM the openings ceremony included short videos of previous EFIM Presidents and Founders. Many of the present FDIME Board members participated in this session. They all received a token of appreciation with an inscription from the current EFIM President George Dalekos.
During the congress all FDIME Board members had various tasks, such as chairing, presenting and moderating.
On Friday March 27 the FDIME/EFIM session took place. The session was mainly devoted to the Alatheia (this means Truth in Greece language) project, which concerns an AI project on complex multimorbid cases. Two cases were presented by Christel Gerardin, the leading scientist/internist of the project. There was a large number of attendants and ample discussion. Christel also presented during another plenary session and in that the session the Alatheia project was mentioned and shown.
On Saturday March 28 the Awards Ceremony unfortunately started about half an hour early and for that reason not all winners could be in time for their short presentation or the handing out of their diplomas.
